Callum Vinson has been selected to portray young Jason Voorhees in Peacock's prequel series Crystal Lake, produced by A24.
Brad Caleb Kane is the creator, writer, showrunner, and executive producer of the series. The prequel is being executive produced by A24, Kane, Marc Toberoff, Victor Miller, Robert M. Barsamian, Robert P. Barsamian, and Stuart Manashil.
Vinson will appear as a recurring guest star in this new series that focuses on Pamela. The story features the hockey mask-wearing killer from the movies, who is revealed to be Pamela Voorhees's son. Linda Cardellini will play Pamela in the upcoming show. Her version of Pamela shows a mother who gave up her singing career to care for a child with special needs. Her character takes a dark turn after losing her son.
Crystal Lake is a town, a lake, and a summer camp in the franchise, setting the scene for the series. As a child, Jason Voorhees drowned in the lake, a tragedy that led his mother to go on a killing spree at the camp. She blamed the camp staff for Jason's death. Jason later saw a camp counselor decapitate his mother, which set off his own killing spree. His rampage continues through 12 films, haunting the area for years.
Alongside Vinson, the cast has expanded to include Nick Cordileone, Joy Suprano, Danielle Kotch, and Phoenix Parnevik. Cordileone is set to portray Ralph, Suprano will take on the role of Rita, Kotch will play Claudette, and Parnevik will be Barry. Additionally, Crystal Lake features William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins, and Gwendolyn Sundstrom.
Barry Jackson, played by Willie Adams, appeared in the first Friday the 13th film as a camp counselor and was the first person Pamela (Betsy Palmer) killed. His girlfriend, Claudette Hayes, also a counselor, was the second victim.
Ralph, known as Crazy Ralph, featured in the first two movies. He's a longtime resident of Crystal Lake who drunkenly warns about the curse of Camp Crystal Lake. If the same Ralph Cordileone plays him, it could reveal what he saw or knew that haunted him for life.
These characters may not be identical to those in the prequel. Even if they are, their stories could change and take new turns.

The last paragraph made me a bit worry (do we really need another timeline?), but altogether A24 sounds interesting, they always push the limits of filmmaking. Not sure about the format though.
