New Line is moving along with their pre-production of "Mortal Kombat" reboot by getting Chin Han to play Shang Tsung and Hiroyuki Sanada to play Scorpion.
The two join Joe Taslim (Sub Zero), Ludi Lin (Liu Kang), Jessica McNamee (Sonya Blade), Josh Lawson (Kano), Tadanobu Asano (Raiden), Mehcad Brooks (Jackson “Jax” Bridges), Sisi Stringer (Mileena) and Lewis Tan.
Han has starred opposite Christian Bale in “The Dark Knight" and most recently seen starring with Dwayne Johnson in “Skyscraper.” Sanada most recently appeared in “Avengers: Endgame” and will next be seen in Zack Snyder’s “Army of the Dead,” “Minamata” and the upcoming season of “Westworld.”
The plot for the movie adaptation of the popular martial arts video game franchise has been kept under wraps, but will be a follow up from the 1997's Mortal Kombat: Annihilation sequel from the 1992 movie adaptation.
This feature will be Simon McQuoid directorial debut from a script written by Greg Russo. James Wan and Todd Garner are producing, with Larry Kasanoff, E. Bennett Walsh, Michael Clear, and Sean Robins executive producing. The movie is set to be released on March 5, 2021.
