Original Ghostbusters Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson have confirmed that they both will be back to reprise their roles of Ray Stantz and Winston Zeddemore in the new "Ghosterbusters 2020" movie being directed by Jason Reitman. The original Ghostbusters (1984) and Ghostbusters II (1989) were directed by Ivan Reitman.
“I’m not in the pictures so much anymore. We’ve got the Ghostbusters movie that we’re working on now and I will have to be performing in that,” Aykroyd said during an interview on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast.
“Ivan Reitman’s son Jason has written a new movie called, well, it’s gonna be Ghostbusters, the third movie. It will be all, most of the original people and then young stars."
Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts also have said they will appear in the film, and Aykroyd told Rogan he hoped Bill Murray would also come aboard. The characters from the 2016 all-female Ghostbusters reboot will not be a part of the new movie.
The storyline will take place after Ghostbusters II and centers on a new family this time, a single mom played by Carrie Coon, and her two children, played by Finn Wolfhard and McKenna Grace. Paul Rudd will portray a teacher living in a small town, and Celeste O’Connor and Logan Kim have also joined the cast.
Ghostbusters 2020 movie will arrive in theaters on July 10th, 2020.
