Tom Welling Reprising 'Smallville' Clark Kent Role In 'Arrowverse' Crossover

Deadline is reporting that Tom Welling will reprise his Smallville role as Clark Kent for the CW's DC Arrowverse crossover, along with Tyler Hoechlin and Brandon Routh that are already set to portray the character in the crossover.

The Arrowverse producers wanted to feature multiple versions of Superman in different time periods during the Infinite Earths event, with Welling, Hoechlin and Routh. Welling was reluctant to reprise his signature role but decided on doing so for the crossover guest stint, reprising his role as Clark Kent and to reveal what happened to the character almost ten years after Smallville.

Hoechlin recurs as Superman on Supergirl, while Routh plays Ray Palmer/The Atom on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

“For eight years, Arrow has stood on the shoulders of Smallville. Simply put, there would be no Arrow, and no Arrowverse, without it,” Arrow co-creator/executive producer Marc Guggenheim addressed the significance of the casting. “So when we first started talking about Crisis on Infinite Earths, our first, second and third priorities were getting Tom to reprise his iconic role as Clark Kent. To say that we’re thrilled would be a Superman-sized understatement.” It is unclear whether Welling will suit up in the Superman costume or only appear as alter ego Clark Kent.

Crisis huh? Isn't that that comic book series where that demonic super-villain tried to expand his own twisted anti-universe by destroying all the positive universes in the multiverse? What was that guy's name . . . oh yeah, Greg Berlanti.

Seriously though, as much as I hate the Arrowverse and everything it, and it's sick-puppy creator, stands for, this still won't convince me to watch it. Although I did consider it . . . for a couple of seconds.

That is so cool, I have been drifting out of the CW shows the last couple seasons (it seems the storytelling and overall fun of the series has gone downhill in my opinion), but with all the people showing up in this crossover event Im really looking forward to it.
