Interesting that it takes place around the time of the first game's tournament, I'm more interested now that I was before.

It is a bit weird as it feels like a retelling of the original storyline but with MK X designs which is weird because that was their "future" designs from 10 or so years later. The Revenge of Scorpion actually does take place during the original trilogies' storyline tho. He enacts his revenge on sub zero who later becomes a revenant and sub zeros brother takes over the mantle of sub zero.

Copy that and makes sense.

The trailer doesnt really push the Scorpion focus IMO, feels like his Revenge story is more of tagline to distinguish it from other MK films and series. Final product could be different, but right now it looks like the firstMK story with some focus on Scorpions motivations.
