J.J. Abrams' production company Bad Robot is developing a darker reboot of DC Comics' Constantine for HBO Max.

The pilot script has been written by Guy Bolton with plans to open a writersí room in March and the character is set to be cast as a diverse lead and being a younger Londoner.

The character was played by Matt Ryan in the NBC series, which aired for one season between 2014 and 2015 and has appeared as the character in The CWís Arrow and as a series regular in DCís Legends of Tomorrow, all part of the Arrowverse.

I was kinda excited for the rumor of†Keanu's version getting second chance, however, considering there's whole multiverse thing going on they could try both tv show and maybe film?

It says it'll be a "diverse lead." That's fancy talk for race and/or gender swap most likely.

Don't know much about the people involved and Bad Robot is kind of hit & miss for me but let's see how this goes.

John is a Scouser from Liverpool.† Also who is this Guy Bolton, and what has he written previously?

Bolton is a fledgling writer out of the UK. He previously wrote two books, The Pictures, which has been sold to Hell or High Water and Outlaw King director David Mackenzie and his production company Sigma Films for a feature adaptation, and The Syndicate. He is also working on The Croupier, an original pilot script that is in development with Gentleman Jack producer Lookout Point and Sky.
