The CW announced the cast for the DC Comics drama pilot Naomi. The project is based on the 2019 Naomi comic book series and is from showrunners Ava DuVernay and Jill Blankenship.

The drama stars 16-year-old Kaci Walfall in the show's titular role, about "a teen girl’s journey from her small northwestern town to the heights of the multiverse. When a supernatural event shakes her hometown to the core, Naomi sets out to uncover its origins, and what she discovers will challenge everything we believe about our heroes."

Joining Walfall are Alexander Wraith as Dee, Cranston Johnson as Zumbado and newcomer Camila Moreno as Lourdes.

The characters are described as following:

Naomi: "An effortlessly cool and confident high school student who is the adopted daughter of doting parents. Popular with all the kids in her military town, Naomi is unafraid to embrace her AP-student, comic book–loving nerdiness. After a supernatural event leads to the discovery of her powers within, Naomi pursues her hidden destiny."

Dee: "The owner of a local tattoo parlor. When a strange event leaves the town in chaos, Dee hints that he knows more than he is willing to tell."

Zumbado: "The mysterious owner of a local used car lot. Having heard troubling rumors about his past, Naomi actively tries to avoid him, but a tense encounter leaves her both shaken and curious."

Lourdes: "A young woman with a sarcastic sense of humor who works in a vintage collectibles shop. She has an unrequited crush on Naomi, and she shares her obsession with classic comics. She is also happy to join in on Naomi’s schemes."

So basically it's just like every other show/teen drama that's ever come out since like the 90s.

Yeah, exactly. I think it's the CWs strong-suit, and I look forward to them playing back toward there own wheel-house. Don't get me wrong, sometimes you WANT deep interpersonal drama and insightfulexploration of the human experience . . . and sometimes you just want Baywatch (or in this case Roswell).

The show certainly has an interesting premise, and much like Stargirl, could be something really cool if done right. I look forward to giving it a shot.

Expect that cast is primarily POC. Which seems to really be the issue.

Here we go. Bruh the series hasn't even come out yet and you hating.

You beef with Riverdale, Felicity, 90210, Melrose Place or any of the 50,000 mayo shows?

It takes way less energy to just be honest and say "I'mnot cool with Black people in my comics/ on my TV"my dude.

Solidarity is over I guess

I see pretty, super-articulate snarky young people behaving in ways no one really behaves, and doing pretty young people things no one really does. Basically, the CW's bread and butter.

Betting they'll fast track this in order to give the floundering (like a lead weight) Batwoman it's walking papers.
