New G.I. Joe Animated Series In The Works?!?

The folks at Hisstank.com are reporting that they have gotten wind through a Licensing Con Brazil event that Hasbro is currently working on some kind of new G.I. Joe Animated series which would premier in some way in 2022 followed by a second season in 2023. No word on where this series might actually air though.

Based on the description of a sizzle shown during the presentation it sounds like this might not feature G.I. Joe as we who grew up in the 80s remember it. Here is the description as they reported it:

The clip was animated like what we usually see on a typical flashback scene. Moving characters to a static background akin to Mortal Kombat X Endings. Could just be placeholder concept art. Barely 2 seconds.

Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow are fighting a couple of enemies. Both their designs are brand new and futuristic.

Snake Eyes:

Snake Eyes looks a lot like a black Power Ranger.
Wears bladed gauntlets like Classified Series Storm Shadow art (most popularly known as Batman Gauntlets).
Silver visor.
No weapon. Just a bad@$$ kick.

Storm Shadow:

Looks a lot like Marvel character Crossbones.
White high-collar jacket, no sleeves.
Like Snake Eyes, wears the same gauntlets.
Dual-wielding two Tang-hooked Katanas.

Enemies:

Two males. One bare-chested (tattooed?)
Wearing Japanese demon masks.
Bare-chested enemy wields double-ended Japanese Shoge Hook.
The other wields a straight sword while receiving a knee kick to the chest from Snake Eyes.

Location:

Top of a building. Helipad?
Neon signboards can be seen in the city.
4th of July like fireworks; reminiscent of the intro of G.I. Joe: The Movie.

Hasbro has not officially announced this series in a public forum, but perhaps we will get more on this during their Pulse-Con event taking place this fall.

It sounds more like a Snake Eyes cartoon, than a full on G.I. Joe one.

I hope they don't go the MOTU Revelation route.

Me to, but honestly, that's just what happens when they make one of these "revivals" nowadays.

I'm hopeful, it sounds like it could be cool, but the odds are against it.

Let me guess, Hasbro wants to do a lot more business in Asia, right?

It makes business sense. $$$
