The whole "amnesiac protagonist who has off-the-charts martial arts skills that snap into effect because of muscle memory" has been done to death....come on....

Are we going to find out that they were part of an elite super deadly league or into some situation and was left for dead....ends up finding a friendly ally along the way while they struggle to find out why someone's after them, why can't they remember, blah blah....

Either way they will have to deal with very serious expectations from fans, both movies we got are great examples of sci fi story telling and producing story to setstandards wont be easy, hopefully its as good as Ergo Proxy, which wasnt that far from BR universe thematically.

Adult Swim and Crunchyroll revealed more about the highly-anticipated animated series from Alcon Entertainment, Blade Runner: Black Lotus, including new key art and the series' opening title sequence today at Virtual Crunchyroll Expo. The series, premiering later this year, follows a young woman who tries to seek revenge on those that have wronged her while uncovering the mysteries of her past.

Also during the panel, "The Making of Blade Runner: Black Lotus," Crunchyroll's head of development Sarah Victor spoke with directors Shinji Aramaki and Kenji Kamiyama about their process for creating the series and how it fits into the legendary Blade Runner universe. Aramaki and Kamiyama also spoke at length about themes within this new series and how they worked hard to create a human story focused primarily on the replicants.

When unveiling the new key art, the directors discussed their process for character design and the stylistic balance they found between animation and photorealism. They also shared that the international production and creative staff for the series helped them capture an atmosphere closer to a Hollywood production and allowed them to create more diverse characters, much like you'd see in Los Angeles now.

Finally, the directors presented the opening sequence from Blade Runner: Black Lotus, which features the original song "Feel You Now" from GRAMMY Award-winning singer-songwriter Alessia Cara.

Blade Runner: Black Lotus, a Crunchyroll and Adult Swim Original, will premiere later this year on Crunchyroll and Adult Swim. The series is produced by Alcon Entertainment and animation studio Sola Digital Arts, with Shinichiro Watanabe serving as a creative producer. Crunchyroll will stream the series in Japanese with subtitles to its global audience of more than 120 million registered users and more than 5 million subscribers while Adult Swim will air the English language version on Toonami, the network's popular anime programming block.

Putting together the pieces, she must hunt down the people responsible for her brutal and bloody past to find the truth of her lost identity.

These are my favorite comments, and I think they sum it up perfectly:"This feels impossibly generic for something set in the blade runner universe. Its as if someone taught an A.I how to make a current day movie trailer and put it online.""I cant believe any fan of the original or even 2049 could think this looks anything but a complete travesty."

"Good lord, it's like there was a competition to hit every tired old trope possible and the tiebreaker went to whoever made it look the worst. ?"

"The music totally kills the Blade Runner vibe.""Why does it look like 90s CG in HD? FF, Parasite Eve, and RE comes to mind."
