Check out the first official teaser for "The Toxic Avenger," the upcoming modern-day reimagining of 1984's cult classic low-budget splatter horror and superhero satire originally created by Lloyd Kaufman, co-founder of Troma Films.
The horror comedy, written and directed by actor/filmmaker Macon Blair (I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore), just had its world premiere last week at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas. The film is now scheduled to screen in October at the Sitges Film Festival in Spain and at Beyond Fest in Los Angeles.
"The Toxic Avenger" features Peter Dinklage as Winston Gooze, a lowly janitor whose life takes a drastic turn when he accidentally comes into contact with toxic waste, transforming him into a grotesque, toxic vigilante. The cast also includes Jacob Tremblay, Taylour Paige, Julia Davis, Jonny Coyne, Elijah Wood, and Kevin Bacon.
A horrible toxic accident transforms downtrodden janitor, Winston Gooze into a new evolution of hero: The Toxic Avenger.
Worst thing about it to me is the fact it looks so POLISHED. Even HD copies of the original have a gritty look to them that gives them a distinct feel.
I'll still see it. Even if I'm skeptical about it, I still love Toxie.
Sooooo Does this mean Toxie is going to be short in stature in this version since hes being played by Peter Dinkladge? Not sure what the polite way to ask this question is.
