Sony Pictures is taking on the challenge of remaking a remake of an original movie. They've chosen Ben Wang to take the lead in the next installment of the franchise, according to Deadline.

Joining Wang in the new film are Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio, reprising their roles from previous movies.

While specific plot details remain vague, we do know that the story is set on the East Coast and revolves around a Chinese teenager who discovers strength and purpose through martial arts, thanks to a mentor.

Jonathan Entwistle is directing the movie, with the script penned by Rob Lieber. Karen Rosenfelt is producing, and the film is scheduled to hit theaters on December 13, 2024.

Wang gained recognition for his breakout role in the Disney+ series American Born Chinese, which also features Michelle Yeoh.
