The Sega video game franchise, Shinobi, is set to be adapted for the big screen, with Sam Hargrave at the helm for Universal, as reported by
Deadline. The screenplay adaptation of the arcade classic, which first launched in 1987, is being penned by Ken Kobayashi. The narrative centers around Joe Musashi, a contemporary ninja who battles formidable evil forces.
The film will be produced by Marc Platt and Adam Siegel through Marc Platt Productions, in collaboration with Dmitri M. Johnson from Story Kitchen and Toru Nakahara representing Sega. Mike Goldberg will serve as executive producer, alongside co-producer Timothy I. Stevenson.
Ryan Jones, Universal’s Senior Vice President of Production Development, and Christine Sun, Director of Production Development, will supervise the project on behalf of the studio.
