Interesting multiverse take on Osvaldo Coppolaplot. Could be a real treat.

Looking forward to this. Gotham was a whole show where Batman only appears in the very last episode. And it worked. These characters are interesting enough to hold the interest of the watcher on their own. I am especially trusting Farrel after having watched Sugar this year.

I disagree just look at all of Sony's Spider-man villain movies

I don't even know why the Joker movie gets so much praise. It doesn't seem very interesting to me without Batman.

Im happy enough for Batman or Bruce not to be in this show physically, as long as Batman is mentioned on occasion like a throw away line kinda like what if the Batman turns up? I think it will work , this is meant to be Ozs story and extra character development

Lauren LeFranc, the showrunner and writer, informed SFX magazine through Deadline that Robert Pattinson will not portray Bruce Wayne or Batman in the upcoming HBO series The Penguin. Pattinson is currently playing Bruce Wayne/Batman in the film directed by Matt Reeves. Meanwhile, Colin Farrell is set to reprise his role as the villain he first played in 2022s The Batman for the new HBO series The Penguin.

Quote

I understand why peoples desire would be to have Batman, or to think that unless Batmans in a show or a film then it doesnt have the same punch." To me I think it packs a different punch. Matts films are through the lens of the Batman, so youre high up, looking down on the city. Its a different perspective. With Oz, youre in the city streets, youre in the grit and the muck and the grime. Hes looking up, wanting to claw his way to the top.

I think Gotham is an interesting enough city that it deserves to have more doors unlocked within it, and for us to walk through those and see what we think.

This and the Dune series are the two Max series I'm most hyped about!
