Sources have disclosed to Deadline that Sophie Turner is currently in discussions to portray Lara Croft in Tomb Raider, a prominent series adaptation of the video game franchise developed by Prime Video and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. The former Game of Thrones star was one of the actresses who auditioned for this significant role, which Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander played in film adaptations.

Waller-Bridge will be the executive producer alongside Ryan Andolina, and Amanda Greenblatt. Andolina and Greenblatt launched their own production company and have a deal with Amazon. Dmitri M. Johnson will also executive produce via his dj2 company.

The Tomb Raider franchise focuses on the fictional British archaeologist Lara Croft, who travels around the world searching for lost artifacts and infiltrating dangerous tombs and ruins. Gameplay generally focuses on the exploration of environments, solving puzzles, navigating hostile environments filled with traps, and fighting enemies. Numerous video games were voiced by Camilla Luddington, Keeley Hawes, and Minnie Driver, and two movies in 2001 and 2018, starring Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander have been released. Hayley Atwell also brought the character to life in a Netflix anime series.

Yep, Cradle of Life, I think.

I liked Alicia Vikander as Laura Croft. Though I think Angelina Jolie looked closer to her appearance in the old games.

Today, at its inaugural upfront presentation, Prime Video announced that it has ordered a Tomb Raider series with Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag) set as writer and executive producer. The series is based on the iconic Tomb Raider video game franchise, which follows the adventures of world-famous archaeologist and adventurer Lara Croft. The project comes as part of a deal between Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM Studios, originating through dj2's first-look deal with the studio, to develop additional Tomb Raider stories into series and films. Tomb Raider will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. Prime has all your entertainment and streaming needs in a single membership.

Crystal Dynamics and Amazon Games have previously announced a collaboration to develop and publish a new multiplatform Tomb Raider game. The as-yet untitled game is a single-player, narrative-driven action-adventure that is an all new, next chapter to Lara Croft's legendary explorations in the Tomb Raider franchise.
