This next video is extra special to me, because not only am I helping one friend, but two. If you didn't know about the 6" military action figure line by Bobby Vala that is on Kickstarter right now, stop what you're doing and go check it out... I'll wait.

In all seriousness though. It was an honor to be able to play around with some one of a kind, resin cast prototypes for this line. I've included a number of pictures I took while I did the review, please also check out the video as at the end, I get to sit down with one of my best friend's, Bill Nedrow who helped write some of the stories for this Action Force campaign. We talk a little about the web comics he is writing for Vala's Action Force. Keep in mind, these are resin prototypes and they are printed at 104% to scale. So in the comparison pictures, they will look a little big, that is by design, as they will shrink when the molds are cut for production.

If the name Action Force sounds familiar to you, it's not the Action Force from the UK that you're thinking of. Hasbro used to own the name, but left the copyright alone and while Bobby was shopping around for a name for his 6" military line, he saw that it was available and now, he is the proud owner of the name Action Force.

He created his own universe for the Action Force, and you can read some of the back stories, HERE. Not only was he able to gain the rights to use the name Action Force, but he found a number of old names that used to belong to GI Joe, left on the curb with yesterday's garbage and one he didn't hesitate to scoop up, was his favorite mail-away Joe, Steel Brigade. So while the Steel Brigade still has it's lore in GI Joe mythos, the new Steel Brigade of the Action Force, it everything you loved in that favorite helmeted trooper, but a whole lot more.

Along with The Steel Brigade, there are 2 other character figures available right now, Condor and Bone Collector. There is also a troop builder stretch goal unlocked and we are getting closer and closer to unlocking another one and his gear. I for one can't wait to get mine, as the kickstarter is already funded, now it's up to us to unlock some stretch goals so we can get more troops for our toybox!

The two prototypes I got the chance to look at were none other than Condor himself and a Stretch Goal female trooper, Eclipse. While she's a little ways away from being unlocked, you never know with these kickstarters. I for one, hope she gets unlocked, or gets close and is available by some other means(pre-order, future kickstarter, etc).

Funded at $130,897...

It was pretty wild at the end, I think it went up to 132,000 at one time. I think people adjusting their pledges as it got towards the end (I had to do the same, as I was relying on my toy sales to fund it and had a snafu with an overseas buyer I had to refund, ?).

One good thing, Bobby posted in the kickstarter...

"As the final minutes tick down I wanted to give everyone a heads up that during the CrowdOx Survey, stretch goals will still be able to be unlocked. If the SWARM Trooper does not get unlocked tonight, it will during the survey. Keep the pledges coming. There will be more pledges coming next weekend during NJCC as well!"

so, the good news, stuff can still be unlocked!

Just announced... Swarm trooper and Kerak swapped, the next stretch goal is now Swarm trooper!

I think I still need some real G.I. JOE figures even if I got these. The feel isn't quite Joe here. Maybe it's the colors or the cartoon aesthetic or something. Something's not quite Joe feeling about these. They're a little generic, but I guess you'd be army building at that's the point. Glad it got funded for those who are into it though.

Well only Hasbro can give us actual GIJoe but if you like 6" military type figures with a bit of a Joe flare to it this is probably as good as it gets.
