Here is a new series of articles from
ToyFarce: the
Scientific Toy Studies. In that series, we will ask
expert scientists from all over the world about those recurring issues that
toy collectors all have at one moment or another. This week, we asked about a simple, yet annoying event that keeps happening over and over again:
That one figure that can never stay up, and just leans against your glass cabinet door. It never fails!
We asked
3 scientists from the
Netherlands to help us with that one. First, they needed some
material to study. We sent them our very own
Black Skull from the
DC Collectibles Batman: Arkham Origins line, who has been falling forward and leaning against the Detolf door daily since
October 2013. What is the
phenomenon behind this? Our scientists investigated...
After several days of
collecting data, and filling several blackboards with all sorts of
mathematical formulas, the scientists came to the conclusion that the figures that keep falling forward inside glass cabinets are just
unbearably stubborn and will keep doing that until they are either
leaning backwards against something,
using a stand or
secured using blu tack or even super glue. In the meantime, here is a
tip for how to put them back up without having the entire shelf falling down when you open the door:
Use a long stick (for example, chopsticks) that you place on the inside of the door as you open it slowly, in order to keep the figure from falling further down!
