It's
Wednesday and you know what that means...
ToyFarce review!
This week, we're having a look at the
April O'Neil as The Bride of Frankenstein figure from the
Universal Monsters x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle line by
NECA. This figure was available early as part of the
Target Fall Geekout event and will be released everywhere else later. I was a bit surprised to get a
April that early in the line (only
Raphael and
Leonardo had gotten the
Universal Monsters makeover so far), but happy when I saw that they used the
Judith Hoag figure for that design.
As is tradition with that line, the
box art looks amazing. The illustrations from
Daniel Horne have been complementing the figures beautifully and those are boxes that you won't want to put in the recycle bin.
April/The
Bride of Frankenstein comes with a lot accessories: an extra
smiling head sculpt, an extra
pair of hands, a
handbag, a
microphone stand/staff, Raphael/Frankenstein's Monster's
sai,
2 rats that have had horrible experiments done to them (one has an eye on his back and the other has a human ear, and
a tarantula.
The
design is great, all the details and sculpting look really nice. The head sculpts are very accurate, and the
Bride of Frankenstein's hairstyle looks good on the
Judith Hoag/April O'Neil's head, so if the actress didn't have an idea for a
Halloween costume this year,
NECA did the job for her. The accessories are nice too, with the creepy rats and spider. The staff being a
microphone is a great touch. The sai is also a nice call back to the 'normal' April O'Neil and the movie. Kudos to NECA for another great figure. The
knees only seem to always be April's
Achilles' heel...
Next week,
Michelangelo as The Mummy!
