It's
Wednesday, and you know what that means...
ToyFarce review!
This week, we're having a look at a few items from the
Fresh Monkey Fiction Naughty or Nice Collection line, that came out just in time for the
holiday season (
unless you have to deal with the international post system, and then you get them a couple of weeks later...)! When they were announced, a little over a year ago, I immediately pre-ordered the
Classic Santa, the
Accessory pack and one of the
Elves. I kept going back to look at the pictures of the other versions of Santa, and finally gave in and added the
Zombie Santa to my list later on. Those figures are exclusive to
BigBadToyStore.
The packaging for the
Santa figures is reminescent of the pre-
plastic-free Marvel Legends packaging, same shape, the window in the front, etc. It wouldn't be a surprise if they came from the same factory! It's a nice,
familiar packaging, like meeting an old friend that you havent seen in a while. The packaging for the
Elves is also collector friendly, with a plastic shell and a card that you can slide in and out in the back to grab the figure, and the
Accessory pack has a nice and flat packaging, with a window in the front.
First, the OG, the
Classic Santa. Well,
what a pleasant surprise: it's a very nice figure! The sculpt and paint apps are great, and the figure has a decent amount of articulations (
no double elbows/double knees/thigh swivels but it's Santa, not Spider-man). The
Classic Santa comes with
2 head sculpts (
normal and winking),
3 extra hands, a
present (
that can be opened), his
list (
I hear he checked it twice!), a
plate with
2 cookies and a
glass of milk (
you can remove the milk from the glass to turn it into... just a glass!) and a
stand. The
hat can be removed and put on the other head sculpt. It seems this '
first edition' has a beard that is a bit more yellow, while the '
2023 edition' will have a white beard, but I don't mind that, it adds a bit of contrast. Overall, a fun figure to add in all your
Christmas related toy photography.
The
elves are smaller figures, at about 4" tall. They're basically
5 points of articulation figures (
head, arms and legs). They all come with
3 different heads, so I picked the one with the costume that looked the more like a Christmas elf to me (green with red and white stripes).
Betty the Elf comes with 2
extra head sculpts, a different
hat, so you can turn her into any of the other elves, a
candy cane, and a
present.
The different styles of
Santa are where the fun is at with this line. I grabbed the
Zombie Santa, and he did not disappoint. The sculpt and paint apps are awesome, with
blood on his costume. He comes with another
head sculpt, Evil Santa, and a
pair of hands, so you can turn him into another version of Santa. He also comes with a
lump of coal (
for naughty children), an
axe (
also for naughty children), the same
plate with
cookies and
glass of milk, but the plate is black, the cookies are rotten and green, and the milk has turned black (
ew!), a
present and a
stand.. A very fun figure, that will be perfect to display during the time between
Halloween and
Christmas!
The
Accessory pack comes with some
soft goods items, such as a
hooded cape and a big red
present bag. There are also
2 stockings, a
stack of presents, a single
present,
Santa's list, a
candy cane, the
plate with
cookies and milk and
2 lumps of coal. Basically, the
Accessory pack has most of the accessories that I got from the other 3 figures apart from the soft goods items, the stockings and the stack of presents. Oh well... they're the funnest part of it anyway! The
cape fits any of the
Santa figure pretty nicely, and seems durable. A great set if you want to get your other figures all '
Christmas-y' too!
"I am vengeance. I am the Night. I am... Santa Claus!"
Fresh Monkey Fiction delivered some great figures, and if the upcoming
Operation: Monster Force figures (from them and
BigBadWorkshop) are anything like those
Naughty or Nice Collection figures, we will definitely hear a lot about
Fresh Monkey Fiction in the future.
Thumbs up!
