"
It has more value if you keep it in the box... and if everybody else opens theirs!" said
Daniel, a collector from Ottawa who first discovered the
Mint in Box (MIB) collector paradox: A toy loses its value if you open it, but at the same time, the more are open, the less remain in their box, which means the value of the ones in their boxes goes up!
ToyFarce investigated...
"
When I hear about collectors who bought an item mint in box and opened it, it always brings a smile to my face, because I know the ones remaining in their packaging will have more value now." added Daniel. "
It's important to me that my collection has the highest value possible, so I always encourage others to open theirs... In Facebook groups, when a collector asks if he should open his figures, I always immediately tell them yes, so that my mint in box collection will be worth more."
So what can a MIB collector do to get the most value out of his figures? "
The solution? I buy several of each figures for my collection. For example, if I buy 3, I keep one in the box, and I open the other 2, so that the value of the one in the box goes slightly up!"

One to rock, one to stock, and a few more to open so that the 'one to stock' is worth more!"
