"
The movie changed everything." said Kevin, a huge
Batman fan and collector. "
The figure, not so much...". Yesterday, June 23rd 2024, was the
35th anniversary of the release date of
Tim Burton's first
Batman movie, with
Michael Keaton,
Jack Nicholson and
Kim Basinger. To celebrate,
Mezco Toyz, famous for their
Batman 1989 figure that nearly took 1989 days to come out, has decided it was time for a new take on that figure.
ToyFarce investigated...
Mezco Toyz had hoped that their
Batman (1989) figure with a seamless body would have the same impact on toy collecting that the
Batman movie had on pop culture in general. Unfortunately, multiple delays and zero communication over said delays tarnished the release. This is why for the
35th anniversary of the movie,
Mezco Toyz is planning to announce a new version of the figure, this time without giving a release date. "
With it being the 35th anniversary, we can at least take 35 months before releasing the figure." said a representant from
Mezco. "
By then it will be the 38th anniversary, we can even keep it under wrap until the 40th... We're not even sure the previous figure will last 35 months..."
