In a shocking revelation that will surprise
absolutely no one, the toy industry continues to churn out
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (or
TMNT) figures at an unprecedented rate, and yet, fans still cry out: "
Please sir, can I have some more?". With multiple iterations of the turtles flooding our shelves - from
retro reissues to
movie figures, and even
black-and-white comic book versions - the question must be asked:
Do we finally have enough TMNT toys? ToyFarce investigated...
We reached out to leading toyologists (
yes, that’s a thing now) to get their professional take.
Dr. P. Shellington, a specialist in turtle-themed collectibles, weighed in:
"
The market is saturated, but at the same time, it’s also not saturated enough. Sure, you can get 45 different versions of Leonardo or Raphael, but where’s the line that depicts the time they briefly worked at a pizza parlor in the 1990s cartoon? Or Donatello’s experimental phase when he tried out steampunk goggles? There’s still so much untapped potential!". Meanwhile, in the last few months, several toy companies have chimed in with announcements of new TMNT toys that somehow no one asked for but everyone still wants.
"
Here is a small list of toy companies that have done (or will do) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toys, off the top of my head: Playmates (duh), NECA, Super7, Mondo, JoyToy, HeatBoys, LingJiHun, Lego, Kidrobot, Mezco (One:12 collective, 5 Points), The Loyal Subjects (BST AXN figures), DC Direct (Batman vs TMNT figures...), Hasbro (Power Rangers x TMNT figures), Mattel (Hot Wheels, Mega Construx, WWE figures), Funko (Funko Pops!), Diamond Select Toys (Minimates), Jada Toys (Cars, MetalFigs), Medicom (Be@rbricks), Bandai (S.H. Figuarts), Kaiyodo (Revoltech), Good Smile Company (Nendoroids), ThreeZero (1:6 figures), Numskull (Tubbz), Iron Studios, MightyJaxx, Prime1, PCS, Sideshow Collectibles (High-end statues),... and those are just the licensed ones! I am probably missing more than a few, still... At this point, it's faster to mention companies that have NOT produced any TMNT toys! There was even a hot minute during which we thought McFarlane Toys would do figures for the Mutant Mayhem movie, but it ended up being a wrong listing... On a technicality, since DC Direct did some, should we count them?"
Do you think we have enough
TMNT toys? Let us know in the comments!

Spoiler alert: No one answered "Yes".

Still waiting for a Jem or Barbie crossover - you never know what1s still missing from your life...But, there are plenty 80's and 90's neon and mutant themed cartoons or toys, can't believe we're still waiting for Captain Planet, Street Sharks or Dinosaurs Extreme crossovers.
Can never have enough quality TMNT figures. Excited to see what Mondo has cooked up with their original design turtles that are a mix of old/new.
Considering in this glut of TMNT stuff, they've only made one decent April (the NECA ultimate one), I have to say that there isn't enough Turtles stuff yet.
Even the Joy Toy April looks bad.
Also they permeated MOTU origins line as well.
