No G.I.Joe Presence At NY Toy Fair In February

With recent news about G.I. Joe getting a new brand manager for 2015 in the form of Mark Weber, who comes from Hasbro's Transformers brand team, we decided to reach out to the folks at Hasbro to see if they had plans to debut any new product for the line at the big New York Toy Fair in February. Here is what they said.

With Toy Fair approaching and Hasbro's annual Entertainment Brand Preview Day scheduled for Saturday, February 14th, we wanted to reach out and clarify that G.I. Joe will not be part of Hasbro's presence at this year's show.

They do go on to say that there will be something planned for JoeCon, which will be held this year in Springfield, Illinois from April 9-12.

While it is great to hear that unlike last year, Hasbro will be in attendance for this years JoeCon and that they plan to announce something, possibly in regards to the hopeful 3rd movie which has been tentatively slated for a 2016 release. It seems unlikely we will see much in the way of any new Joe product on shelves in 2015 beyond perhaps some kind of exclusives, since Toy Fair is the event where Hasbro would be soliciting such product to retailers for the coming year, not JoeCon.

With JoeCon being in April, it's possible they could announce something about that rumored 6" G.I.Joe line which was said to make it's debut in the form of a SDCC Exclusive this year. Hasbro does say they are extremely excited for the year ahead and look forward to sharing thrilling G.I. Joe news with us in just a few months. Let's hope that isn't just PR talk and that they really do have some exciting stuff planned.
