Marvel Comics announces that the eagerly awaited ULTIMATE IRON MAN #1, will ship with two covers, in a 50 / 50 split -- ULTIMATES artist Bryan Hitch provides one cover, with ULTIMATE IRON MAN artist Andy Kubert providing the other -- both covers will feature stunning foil enhancements, at no extra cost to retailers or fans.
Both retailer and fan interest in ULTIMATE IRON MAN has been stellar, ever since Marvel confirmed that four-time Hugo award, and two-time Nebula award and World Fantasy Award winner Orson Scott Card would be writing the series.
Says Editor Nick Lowe, “Let me just say, ‘brace yourselves’. This story will change the way you look at Ultimate Iron Man and show that there is a lot more to Tony Stark than we see in The Ultimates. Orson and Andy (with help from Danny, Richard and Chris, of course) have come through with a unique science fiction vision here that will both shock and thrill…
…working with Orson has been a dream for me ever since I read Ender’s Game. I’ve been working to get him on a Marvel book since I started at Marvel. After all the pestering he finally agreed to do a book (if just to get me off his back) and it is better than I could have imagined. He is a true storytelling master and the readers are really in for a treat…and when Andy agreed to work on the book all the pieces just fell into place. This is the best work of his career, hands down. It doesn’t get any better than this.”
Retailers have until February 10th to place orders for issue #1, with the book hitting shelves on March 2nd. In addition, a movie style poster featuring the Kubert shot is being produced for retail sale, a week before issue #1 is released.
