Hilarious Defenders #1 Sells Out

Who says a comic featuring the Silver Surfer hanging out at the beach can’t be a monster success? The smash-hit Defenders #1 has sold out at Diamond and critics are loving Marvel’s most powerful non-team.

Eisner-award-winning creators Keith Giffen, J.M. DeMatteis and Kevin Maguire are now the comic-selling machine behind the resurgence of Defenders. And when they’re done, you’ll never look at these mythic heroes the same way ever again.

Doctor Strange has recruited Hulk, Sub-Mariner, and the Silver Surfer to reform the Defenders in order to stop the unholy alliance of Dormammu and Umar. But can these heavy hitters overcome temper tantrums, inflated egos, and an unhealthy fascination with the beach in time to stop them?

Maybe not yet, but there are four more issues to go for Marvel’s unlikeliest group of heroes…just enough time for Giffen, DeMatteis, and Maguire to mess up the Marvel Universe forever.

Carl Towns of Paperbackreader.com says, “This is genius. Comic gold from front to back. I’m eagerly anticipating each and every issue of this mini series and already thinking 5 issues just isn’t enough.”

Retailers should be sure to order up on the rest of the series. Kevin Maguire’s creditors would really appreciate it. At this time there are no plans to go back to press, but that could always change.
