Walmart which is the largest retailer in the U.S. is the latest to come out and warn consumers that they plan to increase prices on products due to recent Tariffs. The price increases are expected to start kicking in towards the end of this month with more to follow in June. This is even despite the recent 90-day reprieve that lowered duties on Chinese imports to 30%.
According to Walmart's CFO John David Rainey who told
CNBC,
“We’re trying to navigate this the best that we can, but this is a little bit unprecedented in terms of the speed and magnitude in which the price increases are coming. What we’re looking at is upward pressure that began in April and placed through the entire year on things that are imported,”
While their was no specifics given on what products will see price hikes in the coming days or how much, toys and electronics were called out as something that has a high volume shipping from China.
