NECA had been teasing a new Back To The Future figure reveal for
Back To The Future Day which was yesterday. The only image they released however was one of
Marty from behind playing the guitar. Originally I thought this was simply the
first Marty figure they had released, only with the red vest jacket removed.
Then today they released a second image of that same figure, this time with it holding a photo of his family as seen in the movie. This is an accessory that wasn't included with the first Marty figure. I am also told the red vest jacket on the original figure isn't made to be removed.
So that leads me to believe this is a
new Marty figure they will be doing without the jacket and probably some new additional accessories. Perhaps it will have a new headsculpt as well since that is something NECA has yet to reveal with these first two images. I guess time will tell.
Everything "Back to the Future" cries '80's. It not only embodies the era but what it had hoped to be... to be futuristic, to be better, to overcome the issues being encountered at that time. Somehow some of the hopes of Marty came to a fruition come this era, however, they didn't come without a cost. What better time for NECA to "re-create" that 80's feel, that, after all this Pandemic and crises we've been through and still are experiencing, we somehow found the 80's as a welcome relief, even just the feel of it! If only we can fly 'back to the past.'
I like the photo accessory, that's a nice touch.

This guitar is different than the yellow one that he blew out the amplifier with. This one looks to be the one he used in his school audition scene where he played without his life preserver. Consistent with these two pics.
