Battlestar Galactica Takes Off

Diamond Select Toys & Collectibles is proud to announce a partnership with Art Asylum and Universal Pictures to manufacture product showcasing the cast of Battlestar Galactica! In a recent agreement, Art Asylum will develop resin collectibles and Minimate block figures for both the groundbreaking classic show and the immensely popular modernized series, while DST will handle the marketing and sales of the new line.



The critically-acclaimed Battlestar Galactica tells the story of a race of humans forced to seek out a mythical 13th colony in order to escape the artificially-intelligent and incredibly deadly Cylons. Left with only one military ship to protect the fleet, the Battlestar Galactica must face challenges unlike humanity has experienced before. As in the classic series, the fleet must continually evade Cylon attack; however the Cylons have made a significant advancement since the original series aired - the ability to almost perfectly mimic human form. This character-driven and suspense-filled sci-fi gem has captured the imaginations of millions, and the praises of critics worldwide.



With designs already well-underway, DST and Art Asylum plan to release several resin busts featuring key characters from both series as well as a miniaturized line of Minimate block figures. While specific details and images are not yet available, important debuts and announcements will be made during this year's American International Toy Fair and the following months with the first releases hitting stores in the later half of 2006.
