Redmond, WA-- January 11, 2005 -- It was announced today that Committed Comics, an independent fee-based publisher who specializes in assisting aspiring comic creators by offering advisory services, publication, and marketing, is going to take a six month hiatus to reorganize and reassess it’s creative line in an effort to make the company more streamlined.
According to Editor in Chief and Co-Owner Thomas Doherty, Committed Comics is taking this action in an effort to better serve its clients and customers. “Committed Comics has started to loose sight of its original goal, which was to give aspiring creators the best place to bring their concepts and ideas. Committed Comics will be changing their submission guidelines to be more accommodating to the creators who do not have a full creative team”, Mr. Doherty said. “We want to bring back the fun and excitement that goes hand in hand with creating comic books.”
Although Committed Comics has temporarily suspended all titles that have been solicited through Diamond Distribution’s catalog, Previews, Committed Comics assures Diamond and their readers that their orders will be fulfilled after the hiatus. The final issues of Committed Comics’ hit titles; “Java” and “Neo Dawn” will be released when the company comes back from hiatus, as well as the critically acclaimed two issue series, “Platypus Rex”.
In an effort to head off fears that the company will be permanently shutting down operations, Mr. Doherty, a lifelong fan of comics and now a professional in the industry, reiterated the company’s goal of providing quality services to both clients and vendors: “In the past, companies have cancelled series with only one issue left to ship. This used to drive me crazy! There is no way I’m going to let Committed Comics do the same thing. Neo Dawn and Java will have their final issues ship when the company comes back from hiatus - that is a 100% guarantee. Committed Comics has been in business for over five years and we have no intentions of leaving the industry right as things are starting to get exciting. We just have to make sure that the company is in a good position to provide the reader with the best possible product. Quality is our ultimate concern.”
Committed Comics will be making two official comic convention appearances in 2005: In February, they will be exhibitors at the
Emerald City Comic Con, in Seattle, and in July, Committed Comics will celebrate it’s official re-launching at the
San Diego International Convention, where they will be exhibitors for the sixth year in a row. Products will be available for sale and Portfolio Reviews will be performed on a first-come, first-served basis.
