Ya, the playmates turtles really look like the game art covers. And as I stated for a while already. Playmates is doing these "comic" style turtles is because it's the 25th Anniversary of TMNT and these are to celebrate that. They are each packed with a reprint of TMNT#1. I don't think it has a lot to do with NECA making comic based TMNT figures.

And Yes, NECA still has the licence for TMNT, it's just that there' effort on putting out figures is really slow.

So we are getting 7 comic versions (aka we took the license away from NECA so don't bother to expect to get anymore TMNT NECA figures... period) AND remakes of the entire 10 figures from the 1st wave 1988? AWESOME!!! hopefully these do TMNT as much justice as the amazing 25th/Modern GI Joe figures did for GI Joe.

um...no, NECA still has the license they just kind of suck in the whole getting the product out there department.

Playmates is cool for semi cool figures from the 80's but what have they done lately that's decent? I might pick up Bee Bop and Rock Steady from the anniversary line but that is it. If I am going to buy more turtles it will be from Neca or another company other than Playmates later on down the line.

I liked the TMNT CGI movie line. The 4 turtles were done nicely with somewhat appropriate accessories besides their signature weapons. Casey Jones and the Shredder were great figures as well as the Foot Ninja. Splinter had a nice sculpt but somewhat restricted articulation. There's also a lot of cool toys make by Playmates for the TMNT2k3 line. Nanomonster, Shredder, Gen, mousers, Turtlebot, Foot tech Ninja, Toddler Turtles, to name a few.

wow thats sweet! personally i love them!!! yeah its a close relation to neca current gig but to me this version represents the mulitple styles of the way the turtles have been drawn in the comics. in particular, the remind me of the cover art on mirage's TMNT #4 which was also displayed on the nintendo game and one of my many favorite covers!

and like rambo stated, these will be a lot cheaper than the neca version, which are DEFINITELY worth the $ might i add. its because of that fact that i will buy multiple sets of these. one to keep as original and another to customize into a toon version because imo this set looks a lot more toon accurate than necas comic set.

first thought on seeing the pic was KO neca figures So Im' not too impressed .... I think its sort of crap of playmates to do this while neca has there own figures out trying to sell at the moment ...

I'll buy ANY versions of the Foot and Shredder, no matter who makes them.

Are you a Foot clan collector?

Yep. Definitely one of the most fun and cheapest lines to army build.

These look really great! But it does make me wonder why they are doing these "comic" turtles when NECA has done their version already. Articulation wise these don't look as great as the NECA one's but they resemble the game art for SNES and Gameboy.

The report also says Playmates will be making the 10 original figures...... SO does that mean the 4 TMNT, Shredder, SPlinder, April, Foot Soldier, ROcksteady and Bebop? Sounds like very good news to me execept that........... will these be available in Canada?

The remake of the original 10 will probably show up here in Canada but I'm not hold by breath for the 7 comic figures. Probably going to have to buy a set from BBTS or Ebay.

They look like retooled sculpts of the movie figures from last year.

I do agree about them looking more like the art from the 1st Konami game for the NES.

It seems so but these new bodies have more detail. The movie figures had a smoother look.
