#NYTF19 - Mattel Showroom Coverage - DC Multiverse, Jurassic World, WWE And...

by Jay Cochran
February 18, 2019
Shown below are images from the Mattel showroom for this year's New York Toy Fair. Brands featured include the likes of DC Multiverse, WWE, Jurassic World, Toy Story 4 and Pokémon Mega Bloks. We had heard new Netflix She-Ra was going to shown, but that didn’t happen. Looks like that will probably be shown at SDCC.

Any word on the Red Robin wave release date?

I can't believe I didn't notice before that they are making a Richard Spencer Joker. Huh.

I hope distribution improves so I can get my hands on those Batman and Riddler figures.

Its really quite a shame Mattel lost the dc liscense next year after they finally started doing something cool with Multiverse. Im sure McFarland toys will do better but its gonna be weird since Mattel has been doing it for years!

I really like the Joker and Riddler figures... Itll be nice to get my hands on such a classic throwback Joker. And Riddler, I still have yet to land myself even one of him for my collection. And his look heavily reminds me of the classic Batman tv series.

Where the heck is the Thundercats stuff? It's a crime that we haven't had any Thundercats updates from anyone. I assume they'll show new product at SDCC, but if they had teased something here, it really would have helped to improve their showing. Not showing any 6" JP or JW figures either. Mattel is a crap show these days.

Poison ivy looks good, hopefully they distribute enough of this last wave

Are those DC Multiverse figures even going to make it to shelves? Apart from the movie lines I've not seen any comic based series at retail since the Doomsday wave.

As far as the non-movie waves go Ive seen and picked up up to the Clayface wave, but its spotty at best with the stores around here hardly getting any new cases coming in and then when they do arrive its a blink and you missed it.

Personally I think Mattel going to realize (presuming they havent already) that theres no way they are going to be able to push out everything theyve shown to actual retain in time and thus some of these will probably end up as an SDCC packout release.

Wasn't too much that got me excited at the Mattel showroom this year. Really just the DC figures (of which there were few) and the WWE figures (which I stopped watching wrestling back around the time of the Benoit incident and thus I'm mostly only interested in older characters from the 80s through about 2005 so there's only a handful of figures I'm interested in here).

I could be wrong but I'm guessing that not all of the DC Multiverse figures Mattel has shown are likely to actually make it out through full retail distribution by the end of the year thus they may have to move a wave that was planned for retail and instead release it as this year's SDCC box set. Again, could be wrong, but if this happens it won't surprise me.
