I also don't all the weird pushback on it from others. Now, I hope they release ever single one of the A-listers like this.
Fine maybe I was a bit too swift to be negative, but it was my initial feels, sure as a commerative set it's got merit, but I just feel like that's all, seeing the dial back on articulation just made me feel like I'm getting less, but that's probably because I'm an origins collector, who at this point would never go backwards and buy something like this, it just feels like they could do better, but that's from a stand point of knowing they can, If you want a more exact retro style figure, sure this is one for those people and I get that, and let the people rejoice and be happy if that;s their thing.

Valaverse has never done He-Man, as far as I can remember.
Super7 did a retro vintage version years ago, (Epic Battles) with much simpler packaging and more based on the cartoon design.
Mattel did it more recently, for 40th anniversary, SDCC exclusive, but with the larger 7in Masterverse figures with much more articulation.
Did Valaverse or any other He-Man line do a similar two pack of these?

Yes Im with you. As a one-off, celebrating the figures that started it all, I think its cool and see no harm in it. Im kinda excited about the old punching action, and seeing some deco that was never done on the vintage release.
I think the packaging is pretty rad, too. Love that it looks very different from the outside, but uses illustrations in a very vintage style. The back looks epic.
I wanna say $45 is too much for this set but, I guess it's in line with reaction style figures.
The heman head sculpt looks off to me...off as in it doesn't quite look like the '82 head sculpt.

I agree 100% with you! I stopped getting Origins for various reasons but this is something I am happy I preordered. I would much rather of had things like this for Origins than the more articulated versions we got.

I guess I just saw these are "Origins Retro" ...is this a new thing? Honestly I wasn't even interested, because I don't double up characters (except for some exceptions) so it wasn't for me, but dialing back Articulation on an origins figure just seems gross...I can't get behind that concept.
I'd be on the fence as well, if I was even standing by the fence..but I'd probably not even get on it with this backwards business..nah nah.

So... it's *another* retro reproduction. I guess there's an appeal to some section of the market (and good for them), but it ain't me.
For those that want this u am glad. But yeah, without having the origins articulation I'm just not that keen on em
