Looks like Hasbro's G.I. Joe Brand Team is going to have some celebrating to do tonight. Not only has their first G.I. Joe Classified Haslab Campaign for the 6" scale Cobra H.I.S.S. Tank reached it's minimum funding goal of 8k backers, but it did it in record time. The G.I. Joe 6" Cobra H.I.S.S. Tank Haslab Campaign which only launched earlier this morning at 11am ET now holds the Haslab record for reaching it's minimum funding goal in under 24 hours. Both the Haslab Marvel Legends Sentinel and Haslab Star Wars Vintage Collection Razorcrest took over a day to reach their minimum funding goals.

The Haslab G.I. Joe 6" Cobra H.I.S.S. Tank costs $299.00 and includes a 6" Classified H.I.S.S. Tank Driver figure. Not only that but because it reached 8k backers in under a week Hasbro is throwing in an extra Early Bird 6" Cobra H.I.S.S. Tactician Action Figure inspired by Ron Rudat’s designs.

This project also has 4 unknown stretch goals:

-10,000 backers to unlock Cobra H.I.S.S. Classified Upgrade #1
-12,000 backers to unlock Cobra H.I.S.S. Classified Upgrade #2
-14,000 backers to unlock Cobra H.I.S.S. Classified Upgrade #3
-16,000 backers to unlock Cobra H.I.S.S. Classified Upgrade #4

Now that the campaign has surpassed the minimum 8k backers needed to be funded, hopefully Hasbro will reveal the first stretch goal very soon. We will update here when they do.

Just to recap this is what the H.I.S.S. Tank itself includes;

- Functioning wheels with moving treads: Rotating sprockets and wheels spin as the treads roll forward or backward.

- Elaborately-detailed command cockpit interior: The Cobra H.I.S.S. Driver Action Figure sits buckled with a 5-point harness adorned with Cobra logo before an illuminated control panel. You can pose the figure operating the articulated joystick and throttle controls while targeting Joe combatants.

- “Gull-wing” Canopy: The vehicle comes with features “gull wing” functioning doors with independent right and left sides that lift from center hinges allowing the Driver to enter from either side of the H.I.S.S.

- Rear Cargo Bay: The rear personnel platform provides standing room for additional troops who can be posed holding the functional handrails. Below that is a retractable tow hitch on the rear of the vehicle. The center of the personnel platform flips up allowing the rear cargo door to drop. That reveals an illuminated troop transport cargo space. Inside is a jump seat and a weapon accessory storage rack.

- Articulated turret with poseable cannon accessories: The 360-degree rotating turret includes control details and fits an additional G.I. Joe Classified Series Action Figure (sold separately). The Double “Diablo” Cannon accessories can swivel and elevate independently from one another.

- Removable engine cover detail: Behind the cockpit sits the M.A.R.S.-developed HISS-CS22 propulsion unit detail beneath a removable cover. It connects to side exhaust port details.

- Removable armor plating skirt: The Cobra H.I.S.S. comes with a removable armor plating skirt detail with reactive armor to provide extra protection for the road wheels

- Extendable cockpit boarding ladders: Flip-down boarding ladders descend from each side of the H.I.S.S. granting the Driver easier access to the cockpit.

So now that the campaign has exceeded 8k backers, let see how long it takes to get to the next goal of 10k backers.

I'm really wishing I'd gotten two, but I just don't have the space for it (don't really have the space for one right now, either). Emily said on IG that the numbers will be adjusted up, because they don't include overseas retailer orders that were done where Hasbro Pulse isn't a thing, so there is a possibility that the Hiss Tank could potentially overtake Galactus in the next few weeks.

I really cant wait to get this. I had the 2nd hiss tank I believe (gray) and it was my favorite joe vehicle. I remember getting it at brandlees one year when they did some midnight sale when they opened at midnight. I got this and the mud fighter with dog fighter 4 in the back, 2 in the front and 1 up top loved that. Might be more excited for this than Galactus, both turtle vans, thunder tank, elite ring transformers saber. This is snake mountain level excitement and excrement shooting all over the walls as I worry how Im going to keep collecting with prices this high aeh throw it on a card and worry about it later. Ill just feed the dogs and fill up on city water.

The whole point of the Haslab is it allows them to release things they basically can't get released at retail because they can produce it in smaller numbers than they would if it was a general release. No compared to a general release item this isn't a lot, but that's because retailers like Walmart and Target have little interest in carrying something that takes up so much shelf space and costs so much. And its Walmart and Target that would have to carry it to have any hope of selling anywhere near those kind of production numbers. If Walmart and or Target carried this the likely outcome is they would sit on shelves collecting dust until discounted and clearanced out. That outcome of course would be great for collectors but not for the manufacturer and retailers.

Plus at the SDCC panel, fans were told that Hasbro has a strict rule on the boxed items' sizes. In this case, the HISS will definitely exceed their limits, which is a huge no to general releases.

While this figure is styled like the vintage and even cartoon inspired this is a very particular version. The chest emblem mimics a rare early misprint.

So yeah if you want this specific homage then youre gonna need to back the HasLab*. But there is no doubt that Hasbro is going to reuse this mold with a proper Cobra logo in the not too distant future.*Or wait in till they start popping up on Ebay by the thousands. My guess is a significant portion of backers will try and sell this error version of Cobra Commander to recoup some of the cost**. But with 20k backers I doubt theyll even be able to get much more than a deluxe figures price.

** Its certainly my plan

TL;DR, youll have reasonable options

To those of you who are veteran Haslab backers:When does it usually charge? Is it immediately at campaign end, 24 hours later ("one day"), or some time in between?

The backing email says:

"If theG.I. Joe Classified Series Cobra H.I.S.S.is successfully backed, your method of payment on file will be charged the day after the campaign ends." So not an immediate charge, but close to it.
