Hasbro has announced that coming in 2024 is a retro-style arcade beat-em-up title set within the universe of the G.I. Joe called G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra! The game will be available on Nintendo Switch and PC Platforms!

G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra, the retro-style beat ‘em up set in the timeless G.I. Joe universe from developer Maple Powered Games and publisher Freedom Games, has just been announced. Get ready for G.I. Joe’s biggest mission yet on PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG as well as Nintendo Switch in Q1 2024, as revealed today at The MIX Next.

The legendary G.I. Joe franchise returns for arcade-style beat ’em-up action with Duke, Scarlett, Snake Eyes, Roadblock, and other beloved franchise favorites. Navigate land, air, sea, and even space through iconic locations like Cobra Island, the Pit, Cobra’s top-secret underwater base, and more as you thwart the devious Cobra Commander’s latest scheme to take over the world.

Wield an arsenal of weapons, explosives, and more as you combat the ferocious forces of Cobra and take on Troopers, Ninja Vipers, HISS Tanks, the deadly Crimson Guard, and more. String together powerful combos and master the special abilities of each character to turn the tide of battle. Master dodging and parrying to overcome the odds and save the world.

Assemble up to four players in both online or couch co-op in either Story or Arcade Mode. Lovingly detailed hand-drawn pixel art and classic-style cartoon cutscenes combine for the ultimate G.I. Game is out now on PC, No Physical copies yet though, but Digital, , apparently later dates for Modern Consoles are coming.

Seems like all modern consoles will infact get the game.

Yeah I'm hoping, But it just seems like the only info given so far is that it's on Switch and PC.

Oh and apparently it's going up for pre-order on the 26th!

also I noticed Limited Run has a page up, which means they will make this game for multiple consoles, potentially even a Cart version ported for Genesis or SNES, even though I'm not sure how well the graphics would translate to a older 16 bit gen system..I'm very curious.

I'd imagine it would be available for every console currently on the market. If you can get it for a Switch, which is part of the Xbox One and PS 4 generation of consoles they'll make versions for everything. It would be stupid not to. I hope a release date for these is made available soon.

Clutch has a beard and dark hair. Zap has dark hair and a mustache. And all three of the above wear helmets pretty much invariably. According to a few gamer sites, this is supposed to be Ripcord.

I know there are people who are not sold on the idea of the character designs. I think it's kind of neat. Metal Slug was a cool game I played with back in the day, but more important is the game mechanics, and to get rid of boring elements and repetitive missions. If these are not present, then this will be a solid little effort.
