Musical Comedy 'The Muppets Mayhem' Debuts May 10th On Disney+

Today, Disney+ announced the highly anticipated Original series "The Muppets Mayhem," starring Lilly Singh, Tahj Mowry, Saara Chaudry, and The Electric Mayhem Band, which will premiere with all episodes on Wednesday, May 10. ABC Signature and The Muppets Studio produce the Disney+ Original series from Disney Branded Television.

"The Muppets Mayhem" follows The Electric Mayhem Band — Dr. Teeth on vocals and keyboards, Animal on drums, Floyd Pepper on vocals and bass, Janice on vocals and lead guitar, Zoot on saxophone, and Lips on trumpet — on an epic, music-filled journey to record their first-ever studio album. With the help of a driven young music executive, Nora Singh (Singh), the old-school Muppet band comes face-to-face with the current-day music scene as they try to record their first studio album finally.

"The Muppets Mayhem" stars Lilly Singh ("A Little Late with Lilly Singh") as Nora, Tahj Mowry ("Baby Daddy") as Moog, Saara Chaudry ("The Mysterious Benedict Society") as Hannah, Bill Barretta as Dr. Teeth, Dave Goelz as Zoot, Eric Jacobson as Animal, Peter Linz as Lips, David Rudman as Janice, Matt Vogel as Floyd Pepper and recurring guest star Anders Holm ("Workaholics”) as JJ.

Based on characters created by Jim Henson, the series is developed and written by executive producers Adam F. Goldberg ("The Goldbergs”), Bill Barretta ("The Muppets," "Muppets Haunted Mansion"), and co-executive producer Jeff Yorkes. Michael Bostick, Kris Eber, and The Muppets Studio's David Lightbody and Leigh Slaughter also serve as executive producers—original music by executive music producer and Songwriter Hall of Fame inductee Linda Perry.

ABC Signature and The Muppets Studio produce the Disney+ Original series from Disney Branded Television.

Why? The original Muppet Show was ALL Muppets, with a weekly guest. It shouldn't need a regular human "star".

....because shewasthe per-episode guest. This was a single-episode special.

I dunno man, Sabrina's kinda muppety, I don't see a problem, she's about as tall as Kermit, Not sure where Sabrina threw you off, I'm sure she blends on in!

lol I say all this, but I;m only an inch taller then her, that being said I can confirm she is a muppet, as I have been called both a Muppet and Sabrina Carpenter. and I am certainly the first thing there, so If I've been mistaken for both...it tracks. Just saying.

I really loved the comeback special episode. I have been writing to Disney since they bought The Muppets, trying to get them to continue the show. I guess they finally did it. It brought back my childhood. I was also thrilled that the first guest was Sabrina Carpenter. I love her music. She must have been over the moon. I swear, i'd drop dead from shock if they asked me on. Of course i am nobody, so it's a fantasy obviously.

Jim Henson created The Muppets in the 50s and they were introduced on Sam and Friends in Washington DC.

The Muppet Show was produced and aired in England, and began airing in syndication in the US and worldwide.

As his involvement withSesame Streetcontinued, Henson began developing a network television series featuring the Muppets, but distinct fromSesame Street; this series would be aimed at a more adult audience and would satirizesketch comedy. Twotelevision pilots,The Muppets Valentine ShowandThe Muppet Show: Sex and Violence, aired onABCin 1974 and 1975, respectively.

After ABC passed on the pilots and other networks in the United States expressed little interest in the project, British producerLew Gradeagreed to co-produce the series forAssociated Television.

The Muppet Showwas produced byITC EntertainmentandHenson Associateswith programmes produced and recorded at theATV Elstree StudiosinBorehamwood,Hertfordshire.

The Muppet Showintroduced new characters such asMiss Piggy,Fozzie Bear, andGonzo, alongside existing characters such as Kermit and Rowlf.

The series was premiered in the UK on 5 September 1976 and ended on 23 May 1981. Five seasons, totalling 120 episodes, were broadcast on ATV and other ITV franchises in the UK and infirst-run syndicationin the United States from 1976 to 1981.
