ToyFarce review!
This week, we're having a look at all things
DC Multiverse Batman Forever from
McFarlane Toys. This is another special one for
ToyFarce, another review
over 3 years in the making after '
leaking' the
Batman Forever and
Batman and Robin waves in 2021, everybody laughed then, and here they are now! I grabbed the whole wave that comes with a
Collect-to-Build Nightmare Bat (the bat from the infamous deleted scene), as well as the
Batmobile which came with
Alfred!
First off,
Batman as portrayed by
Val Kilmer. The figure is pretty similar to the one that came in the
Ultimate Movie Collection 6-pack, which was
PERFECTION. This one has a few tweaks to differentiate it, though, like the gloves and boots being a different color. I imagine it's to make sure the people that bought the
Ultimate 6-pack don't get mad, just like they had tweaked the
Clooney Batman figure before that. The likeness on this figure is amazing. He comes with an extra
pair of hands, a
batarang, a
sonar batarang, a
grapnel launcher and the
head of the Nightmare Bat, along with a
stand for it. The soft goods cape is not wired, which I assume is for him to sit better in the
Batmobile. A gorgeous figure!
Robin, played by
Chris O'Donnell, also looks pretty good. The colors on that suit really pop. The likeness is really spot on, just like the
Batman and Robin one. He comes with a beautiful
wired cape,
2 extra pairs of hands and a
wing for the Nightmare Bat. That cape is super fun to pose!
Two-Face, played by
Tommy Lee Jones, doesn't come with much: only
2 extra hands, both with trigger finger,
while the figure doesn't come with any guns... (McFarlane Munition Pack, to the rescue!). He also comes with the other
wing for the Nightmare Bat. The likeness is pretty good too, and the details on the suit are awesome.
Last but not least, the
Riddler figure, played by
Jim Carrey, has to be my favorite from this wave. The likeness is pretty good, he's so goofy looking! I played with him the most while taking pictures. He comes with an
extra pair of hands, a
riddler bat bomb, a very gummy
cane (
a bit of a bummer, it would have ruled if it was solid), and the
body of the Nightmare Bat.
It's such a great toy!
The
Nightmare Bat, albeit being only in a deleted scene, looks very good in figure form. The
mouth is articulated. It has a gread
stand holding it nice and tight in a flying pose. The
wing span is huge, like
NECA's Gargoyles figures, and it will be a
pain in the butt to display... Speaking of
pain in the butt to display...
The
Batmobile from
Batman Forever is one of my favorite designs (
after the 89 Batmobile and the Animated Series one), and I've always wanted to have a big, nice version of it. It has lights and sound (the sound of it starting up, with the lights blinking). From the early promo images, it looked like the color was too
green, but it's actually pretty spot on (it might be the Amazon one that has the wrong color only). The
cockpit opens and you can put your
Batman Forever Batman figure inside (
hence the cape not being wired). The only issue with it is that the
fin is
obnoxiously long (which is part of the original design), and this thing takes a lot of space.
I have no idea how I will display it... Yay!
As a bonus, the
Batmobile comes with an
Alfred Pennyworth figure, which is like a cherry on top of an already amazing, Batmobile shaped cake.
Michael Gough played
Alfred alongside
Michael Keaton,
Val Kilmer and
George Clooney, so having a figure of him is pretty sweet. This completes the
Batman Forever display, hitting us right in the nostalgia!
