It's
Wednesday and you know what that means:
ToyFarce review!
This week, we're having a look at the
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Soft Vinyl Figures from
Mondo!
Finally, a toy company gives us Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figures, am I right? All jokes aside, those turtles look really awesome, inspired by
classic TMNT and
Japanese 'sofubi' toys (soft vinyl) and will compliment any shelf (
or manhole cover) they end up on!
Those soft vinyl versions of our favorite turtles were designed and sculpted by
Alex Brewer and
Hector Arce, painted by
Mark Bristow and the packaging was designed by
Jordan Christianson with amazing art by
Aaron Conley in the back (
I do like when companies mention the artists behind the figures and will try to add more of that in reviews). The packaging for each is a
HUGE blister card (
so huge, BBTS sent them in 4 separate shipments, LOL), which looks great and nostalgic , and
Mondo even included a
extra card for each, without plastic bubble or glue, so that you can open the figures without feeling bad about damaging it.
Such a nice move!
The figures themselves look
fantastic. They have minimal articulations (neck, arms, legs, wrists) and all come with their respective
weapons (
katanas for Leonardo, sais for Raphael, bo staff for Donatello and nunchucks for Michelangelo, for the ones not following). The weapons can be stashed in their belts/sheaths or held in their hands (duh). Those soft vinyl figures are about
8", feel great in hand (very light), and the paint on them is amazing. Their faces are especially nice,
chef kiss!

The line also has a
Mondo Gecko (
Mondo kinda had to, right? Same name!) and
Ray Fillet, and a
Baxter Stockman figure is also available for pre-order. They also had a '
Mirage variant' black and white set of 4 turtles available for
New York Comic Con that is long sold out. You can still find those turtles at our sponsor
BigBadToyStore.
