G.I.Joe Question & Answers With Hasbro (Final Round For 2007)

by Jay Cochran
December 17, 2007
Each month we submit 5 reader-generated questions to the Hasbro design team for G.I.Joe. Here is the latest batch of questions and answers for October:

TNI: Will Snake Eyes v.2 of the 25th Anniversary line receive the same crotch re-tooling as Stalker? Will we see a painted black version of Snake Eyes v.2 as we have with version 1?

Hasbro: The plan is to use the updated Snake Eyes body in 2008 and the black V2 Snake Eyes is in Wave 4 2007.

TNI: Will Major Bludd and Wild Bill also be included with Battle Armor Cobra Commander, Rock N' Roll, and Lt. Torpedo for Wave 6?

Hasbro: No, Major Bludd and Wild Bill were pushed back to Wave 3 of 2008. When you see the results, you will agree it was worth the wait.

TNI: When can we expect an announcment on the future of the Comic license?

Hasbro: We are hoping to have an annoucement early in the new year.

TNI: What, if anything, can Hasbro do about increasing availability of the 25th Anniversary figures to consumers?

Hasbro: Hasbro is addressing this by increasing the production runs based on the early success of 25th anniversary.

TNI: It's almost 2008. What can you tell us about new vehicles for the 25th Anniversary line? Will we see any beyond the three Target exclusives shown at Joe Con, and if so will they be re-released RAH vehicles, new molds, or a mixture of both?

Hasbro: We are currently exploring vehicle initiatives and will have official news to share at Toy Fair in February.

Oh, and Hasbro mentions WB and MB being included in Wave 3, 2008. Are we still counting Wave 5 as Wave 1, 2008, or are we considering Wave 5 just Wave 5? Just trying to get my bearings as to which wave is considered what.

As far as Hasbro's concerned, each calendar year is a reset. 2008 Wave 1 is the fifth set of GIJoe figures in this line, but it is *not* Wave 5. This was easier to keep track of during the GVC era, when the new calendar year was accompanied by a change in theme (Thus GVC Wave 5 was actually Spy Troops Wave 1, but was also simply 2003 Wave 1).

wave 5 (Crimson Guard, Snowjob wave) is labeled "Single Pack Asst WV1 08"

I didn't hear any mention of quick kick. I actually like quick kick, so i would be happy. I liked him better than all the later ninja crap. Like bushido, dojo and the rest of the clowns.

If anyone's ordered a case from places like BBTS/EntEarth (or if any of the people who keep managing to buy whole CASES of the stuff in the stores could tell us), I believe Hasbro labels their cases with print that tells you what they call the wave. I have a case of Alternator Skids that I got a while back during a clearance sale, and it's labeled "WV 3 06". I suspect the Joes cases are similarly labeled.

Wave 5 is Wave 1 of 08 I bet.

Although much of what was said is shrouded in "let's save that for Toyfair" (completely understandable), there are still a few good nuggets in there. Most notably, a confirmation for Major Bludd and Wild Bill! Now if we can just get confirmation of Blowtorch and Mutt, I'll be good.

Alpine and Bazooka hinted as possible future release. No Jinx or Cover Girl planned. A new scarlet and lady jaye with new heads are planned.

CTR confirm that Quick Kick is being release in thier questions. No Cutter for the line but there will be a figure with a life vest release.

That "life vest" figure is most likely a Lampreys. Who else is there with a life vest other than Cutter and the Lampreys???

topside

It won't be Topside. Most likely someone from 82-87.
