Is
Hasbro going to present a new
6" scale Cobra High Speed Sentry (H.I.S.S.) Tank for their Classified line as their next
Haslab Crowdsourcing campaign?
Back in 2021 I did an
April Fools article here on TNI suggesting such a thing would happen. Obviously the article was done for fun, but if
Hasbro was going to really venture into the world of 6" scale vehicles for the
Classified line, the iconic
H.I.S.S. Tank always seemed the most logical choice to start things off. Granted we have technically already gotten a couple of 6" scale motorcycles in the line including the
G.I. Joe RAM Cycle, but I don't really consider those full-size vehicles when compared to something like a
H.I.S.S.
Now besides the
H.I.S.S. being iconic and probably the most recognizable vehicle used in Cobra's arsenal of weapons, it's also more of a mid-size vehicle than say other tanks released over the years in the G.I. Joe line. This to me makes it a better choice for the Classified line than say a
MOBAT or
Mauler tank. The final factor that makes the
H.I.S.S. a logical choice is that it will likely be deemed an "Army Builder" type vehicle which means people will want to buy more than one.
Now there have been many
H.I.S.S. Tank designs over the years and going back to my April Fools article, I actually choose a cool custom design that was done by
Nogamusprime for my choice of a 6" scale tank.
My guess if
Hasbro gives us a 6" scale
H.I.S.S. they will go with the more classic original look, but I personally wouldn't be upset if they gave us something a little more modern looking.
So that brings us back to the
BIG QUESTION, will
Hasbro offer us a chance to get a
6" scale Cobra H.I.S.S. Tank for this years
G.I. Joe Haslab campaign?
All signs are seemingly pointing to YES! We know this years
G.I. Joe Haslab will definitely involve the 6" Classified line because they told us as much the other week during their
YouTube Live-Stream. When they teased the Haslab during that live-stream they played the sounds of rolling tank treads which seemed to be a clue for what the campaign would be based on.
Then earlier this week during the more recent
Instagram Live-Stream when G.I. Joe brand team member Emily presented fellow brand team member Lenny with a birthday cake that featured a
H.I.S.S. Tank on it, they started saying things like how much they loved the
H.I.S.S. Tank in a way that seemed to be hinting to something more than just a cake.
At this point for me I feel like its less of a question about
IF we get a
H.I.S.S. Tank for the next
Haslab and more about what kind of
H.I.S.S. Tank and how much will it cost?
Again I would love to see maybe a more modern designed
H.I.S.S. Tank, but I feel
Hasbro will likely go with the original design. But what price would they set for such an item? When we talked about this in my
live-stream this week, many of you suggested it shouldn't cost more than $350.
Hasbro has never offered a 6" scale vehicle through
Haslab so it's hard to estimate what they might actually charge for something like a
6" scale H.I.S.S Tank. The recent
Star Wars Vintage Collection 3.75" scale Razorcrest was $350. Hasbro's
Transformers Unicron was $574.99 and the
Marvel Legends 6" scale Galactus was $399.99.
While I know many don't want to have to pay more than $350 for a
H.I.S.S. Tank, I am going to guess and say Hasbro will end up charging somewhere in the neighborhood of $400-$500. Keep in mind that is
ONLY MY GUESS on the price. I certainly would prefer only having to pay $350, but either way I hope the vehicle will include a
6" H.I.S.S. Driver figure right out the gate. As for tier add-ons, I am not really sure what
Hasbro could do, but I suspect they will need to be good if the price point is on the high side.
For now all we can do is speculate about all of this, but hopefully all will be revealed by Hasbro this coming Wednesday (6/29) during their next YouTube live-stream where they have promised something BIG will be revealed.
While I don't know where I will put it and fear the price will be on the higher side of things, I am also very excited for the prospects of a new
Classified 6" scale H.I.S.S. Tank vehicle, so I do hope that is what the upcoming
Haslab announcement will be, what about you?
