Mortal Kombat was one of my favorite games from my childhood and a lot of good memories related to it. I used to play it with my friends after school, on my old PS console. I play it even now sometimes, but not so often. Right now, I spend a lot of time playing Minecraft on my private server, which I created using minecraft hosting, it's very fun because my community is not so big, but we have the same interests and I can make different modifications for a better gameplay, by keeping in touch with most of the players.

Hahaha I hope so. The 90s turtle flicks are the best imo. Minus 3rd one. We don't speak of that

Transformers, G.I. Joe, TMNT, Thundercats; Hollyweird's track record with these revivals of 80s properties is hit or miss at best, because they just don't get what made these properties work. What I've been hearing from the MOTU camp lately only reinforces that.
For Mortal Kombat, I really hope they can achieve that same fantasy meets reality formula that Detective Pikachu did. That's the only way I think it can work. Given the nature of the game, I also hope they can resist the urge to do the movie as some hyper violent, "R" rated torture-porn combo of Enter the Dragon, Game of Thrones and Hostel.

Has there been any director or cast announcements for the MOTU movie?
Hate to say it, but the smart money is on MK. Thanks to Detective Pikacu and Sonic, video game properties are getting a lot of attention from Hollywood.
I can't help thinking all Hollywood sees in MOTU is a played out franchise.
Im pretty sure both of these properties have had "under production" movies for the past 2 decades. I remember there was a MOTU movie supposedly being produced by i think John Woo for a long time but never had anything to show for it, and a third MK movie has definitely been in talks and rumors since early 2000s. Heres hoping at least one of these properties actually deliver this time around.

Well, in all fairness, Mortal Kombat has already had a successful movie and a dopey-but-cool sequel, so it has a proven track record. It also has the virtue of being "In Production" while another MOTU movie has been a pipe-dream for just over 30 years.
Wake me when He-Man actually starts rolling film, then we'lltalk "theaterbattle."
