20th Century Fox has released a teaser trailer for the upcoming Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes which will open in theaters on Memorial Day weekend 2024.
Director Wes Ball breathes new life into the global, epic, franchise set several generations in the future following Caesars reign, in which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is directed by Wes Ball (the Maze Runner trilogy) and stars Owen Teague (IT), Freya Allan (The Witcher), Kevin Durand (Locke & Key), Peter Macon (Shameless), and William H. Macy (Fargo). The screenplay is by Josh Friedman (War of the Worlds) and Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver (Avatar: The Way of Water) and Patrick Aison (Prey), based on characters created by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver, and the producers are Wes Ball, Joe Hartwick, Jr. (The Maze Runner), Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Jason Reed (Mulan), with Peter Chernin (the Planet of the Apes trilogy) and Jenno Topping (Ford v. Ferrari) serving as executive producers.
The upcoming trailer for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is being teased by 20th Century. A new clip on social media shows one of the main apes calling a falcon while gazing into the distance. This scene sets the mood for the arrival of the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes trailer on November 2.
Deadline is reporting that Kevin Durand is on board to join the cast of 20th Centurys Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. The cast currently includes Owen Teague, Freya Allan and Peter Macon.
Not confirmed, but sources claim Durand will be playing an Ape and would be a villain.

Ball directed the Mazerunner movies (had to look him up), but the writers of this new Planet of the Apes movie also wrote War of the Worlds, Black Dahlia, Terminator Salvation, The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Jurassic World, and the Planet of the Apes movies from the last decade, so the screenplay probably won't have a YA feeling.
Mazerunner were YA films and with the Star being young, I have a sneaky suspicion they might go for a younger audience though hopefully not. It was an underrated trilogy and the only good thing Fox had for a long time
