Totally agree. The story needed expounding upon not cut up even more. The constable was in the first scene and I think only one other near the end showing him leaving. No need to investigate any of the happenings lol. Also didnt like that the relationship between mears and the teacher was non existent.

Absolutely. Neither the house nor Straker had any, I mean ZERO, of the sense of menace and dread that the 70s tv mini series had. Barlow scared the living pants off people back then, but somehow this 21st century version, with all the advancements and techniques that we have, looked frankly silly in comparison. And yes the drive-in being the lair?? Almost laughable!
You also make a great point about it being rushed. Fact is even the '79 mini series left out some great info from the novel. But here they cut WAY too much and added senseless stuff. In the 70s, tv mini series were a new thing, far more expensive, and studio producers were much more skittish about air time, budget, and tv censors. Today's environment is far more accepting of this concept so they could have taken their time and made it a 3 or even 6 hour thing and done a much better job.

I tried to be vague enough so as not to drop any spoilers. I will say, in this version the lead character drives into the cursed town of Salem's Lot in a 70s british MG roadster as opposed to a Jeep, in the '79 tv show. I actually think this fits him more as the "writer" vibe better. The good thing is that both are on MAX now so you can watch and compare.

Clearly this was an attempt at re-doing the original tv mini series but it failed horribly. It had its good points but not enough, not nearly enough, to have this match up in any way with what's already been done. Happily, the 1979 tv movie is also on Max and I'd advise watching this, instead of the 2024 version.

Oh wait.
Never mind.
LOL seriously though I think this one is gonna be ok to re-do. High Hopes!

I want to be excited for this movie....... but is no good sign when a movie is delayed this long only to be finally "dumped" on a streaming service.
Does anybody remember that Pet Semetary prequel film?
Tobe Hooper did something with his version of Salem's Lot that is very difficult to do.....he made vampires scary.
All Im getting from this trailer is some call backs to classic scenes from Hooper's version and a "what if Disney/Marvel made Salem's Lot" vibe.
I really wanted this to be good but Im not feeling it.

Yep, just saw an article saying he was going to be the lead vampire
