Kelly Macdonald Joins HBO's DC Series 'Lanterns'

Deadline has announced that Kelly Macdonald, known for her role in Boardwalk Empire, will join Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre as a series regular in Lanterns, a drama from the network inspired by the Green Lantern DC comic.

The series, created by Chris Mundy of Ozark, Damon Lindelof of Watchmen, and comic book author Tom King, centers on recruit John Stewart (portrayed by Pierre) and the legendary Lantern Hal Jordan (played by Chandler). Together, these intergalactic law enforcement officers become embroiled in a sinister, Earth-centric mystery as they delve into a murder case in the heart of America.

Macdonald will portray Sheriff Kerry, a pragmatic woman who is profoundly committed to her family and the tightly woven fabric of her community. Her strength, forged by a multifaceted history that has fortified her determination, serves as her foundation when the hidden truths of the town start to emerge. This character is considered a possible romantic interest for Chandler’s Hal Jordan.
