ToyFarce News: Wait... What Year Is It?

No, your eyes are not deceiving you, do not adjust your screen. In the last week, another temporal anomaly occured and several toy companies are announcing toys that already came out (or should have) over 20 years ago. Now, get in the Delorean and let ToyFarce investigate for you!

In the recent years, it is no secret that "Nostalgia" has been a goldmine for all our favorite toy brands. With the TMNT, Ghostbusters, G.I. Joes, Power Rangers Lightning Collection and "retro style" Marvel Legends figures regularly hitting our shelves, it's pretty clear that there is a demand for the toys of our childhood, now that we all are adults with disposeable income.

StarTrek

This past week, Playmates has announced the return of the Star Trek 5-inch figures. Many of us remember that line with fond memories, such as "why are they so small?" or "they don't fit with any other line!", but since we were children back then, it didn't matter and we would gladly play with them anyway. Good times.

Goblin

Hot Toys announced the first of the villains from Spider-man: No Way Home (a movie that also relied heavily on nostalgia), the Green Goblin. Now, that is definitely a figure that should have come out about 22 years ago, when the first Spider-man movie was out, but back then, Hot Toys was too busy making bootleg Tom Cruise, Keanu Reeves and George Lucas figures.

WWEretro1WWEretro2

Finally, after resurrecting the line in 2017 and killing it again in 2019, Mattel has decided to bring the WWE retro line back... again in 2022. The first WWE retro wave was exclusive to Mattel Creations and sold out in 5 hours on the website. Get on it before they cancel it again!

Oh yeah, we're also going to get Indiana Jones figures from Hasbro!

What other line from the past would you love to see brought back to life? Let us know in the comments!

There have been a lot of retro figures coming out. The Defenders of the Earth line with Phantom, Flash Gordon etc. Up next ... Captain Planet. He'll be saying, "I told you so," on the packaging.
