MAFEX Batman: Hush - Huntress Review and Images

Huntress

It's Wednesday, and you know what that means... ToyFarce review!

This week, we're having a look at the Huntress figure from the Batman: Hush line from MAFEX. Huntress is the 9th figure in the line (counting the Batman repaint), and is a weird choice, considering she is probably nobody's favorite character from the Batman: Hush comic book, which included almost the entire Bat-family and rogue gallery (at the time).

Huntress, or Helena Rosa Bertinelli, is a vigilante that operates out of Gotham City, and a member of the Bat-Family. In the Batman: Hush comic book, she appears only for a few pages, saves Batman after his grapple gun failed and he fell from the sky, and has a quick skirmish with Catwoman later.

Huntress comes with an extra head sculpt, 4 extra pairs of hands, and a staff. Not a lot of accessories with that figure, and sadly no crossbow, which is usually Huntress's go-to weapon. She had an actual gun in the comic book, which she pointed at Catwoman, but since we won't have firearms with DC/Warner figures, we know why it's missing. The crossbow must be in that grey area though, where it has a trigger, and even if it does not shoot bullets, it is considered a firearm, maybe? Also, her outfit has been changed a bit to be less 'sexy'. In the comic book, her entire legs are exposed, while MAFEX gave her short shorts here. Maybe it looked a bit weird with the articulation in the way?

Huntress is a great figure, as are all the figures from that Batman: Hush line. Great articulation, with an update compared to the other ones as she has thigh swivels (gasp). It also seems that MAFEX has figured out the capes, with this one having wires on the cape but also at the bottom, so you can just fold it nicely at the bottom, or open it wide and it stays put. If only the first Batman came with a cape like this... The only issue I have with it are the pegs for the hands, which are a little too small, and the hands tend to fall off a lot when you handle the figure.

It was a great review as always. I dig the character design, but somehow the neck joint with the head size looks a bit off. Otherwise, it's pretty cool.

Nice bicycle shorts, Helena.
