Mondo Creature from the Black Lagoon Vinyl Designer Figure by Attack Peter Review and Images

This week, we're having a look at the Creature from the Black Lagoon Vinyl Designer Figure by Attack Peter (Green Timed Edition) from Mondo! Something a little different this week, we're taking a break from highly articulated figures to get a Sofubi-style (Japanese soft vinyl) one, and with 2024 being the 70th anniversary of good ol' Gill-man, it's a perfect time!

The Creature from the Black Lagoon is celebrating its 70th anniversary this summer, so we can expect lots of merch to be announced. Mondo celebrated by releasing a beautiful Sofubi-style figure of the Gill-man, designed by Attack Peter. Attack Peter, aka Peter Santa-Maria is an awesome artist and illustrator with his own great, unique style, specializing in linoleum block prints and designer toys. He used to have a weekly livestream on Youtube where he would carve and print pop culture and horror icons with his own twist (which I highly recommend). He also happens to be the Sr Creative Director at Mondo.







This Creature from the Black Lagoon Vinyl Designer figure by Attack Peter is the green version, which was a timed edition on the Mondo shop. The packaging has Peter's art all over it, which is awesome. I believe he carved the portrait live during one of his livestream last year, and now I have it on the box... Yay! The figure itself looks pretty amazing. I love that design. All the little details in the sculpt are great, the paint and colors will really pop on the shelf. It has points of articulations on the neck, shoulders and wrists. The vinyl is not too soft but feels nice in hand. It's a great freaking toy, and sometimes, that is all we need!















Mondo has since released 2 variants of this figure, a Glow-in-the-dark version (available at Monsterpalooza 2024) and a linocut, black and white version, and both sold out fast.
