Do you remember
December 2022, when the first '
leaked' pictures of the
Marvel Legends Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse figures started to pop up on the internet, and the overall reaction was...
not amazing? "
What is this trash? They look horrible! Vomiting emoji!"
ToyFarce remembers...
The long awaited sequel to
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse came out last week, and pulled a heroic
$120 million opening weekend. The
Hasbro Marvel Legends figures for the movie have been spotted '
in the wild' for a couple of months, and collectors seem to enjoy them and post lots of pictures of
Miles,
Gwen,
Spider-punk or even
Cyborg Spider-Woman. Now, back in late 2022, before the first trailer for the movie had even dropped, a leaked picture of the wave found its way on the internet, and the reaction was
the opposite.
ToyFarce sat down with
Mark, a
Marvel Legends afficionado:
"
I remember the first picture. I wrote a comment that said "These are absolute garbage, dog $h*t figures", and that they would be #PegWarmers. Other collectors were commenting that nobody will buy those, that they look crappy, that the designs sucked, that the Spot looked like Gru from Despicable Me in cosplay, that Spider-Punk was trash, and that Hasbro should be ashamed of themselves. We all agreed. Well, now I have seen the movie, and I am looking for the figures, if anybody knows where I can grab them, preferably close to retail... especially the Spot or Spider-Punk..."
