It's

ToyFarce review!
This week, we're having a look at the
Chainsaw Man figure from
Bandai/
Bandai Spirits/
Tamashii Nations/
S.H.Figuarts/whatever name they use this month.
Chainsaw Man is an immensely popular manga by
Tatsuki Fujimoto that started in 2018, and more recently, a fantastic anime series by
MAPPA studios. The
S.H.Figuarts figure, which came out in late April, seems to be based on the anime series, even though they are pretty much identical. That figure is
RIDICULOUSLY amazing and fun to pose.
Chainsaw Man follows the story of
Denji, a very poor young man, who is left for dead after a betrayal, and fused with his dog-like devil pet
Pochita, gaining the ability to change parts of his body to chainsaws. He is then recruited by the
Public Safety Devil Hunters to hunt other devils. Sure,
it doesn't make a lot of sense, but it's actually really good! The anime also had beautiful animation (
MAPPA studio's signature), a great soundtrack and tons of movie references.
The figure comes with an
extra face plate with screaming mouth, an
extra tie for action poses, and
2 extra pairs of hands. The face place is really easy to change, as does the tie. The hands system is pretty clever: they separate in 2 halves, which can be attached on both sides of the arm chainsaws.
As mentioned in the intro, this figure is
RIDICULOUS. The articulations allow for
insane posing, and he just looks awesome in any pose. He's very fun to play with and I haven't been able to put it down in a couple of days. Sure, the chainsaws are a bit pointy, but not enough to hurt your fingers. There's something about this
design that really translates well in figure form.
Bandai already announced
Power, Denji's Blood devil partner, and
Katana Man, one of the first villains of the series. If they are anything like this figure, I'm looking forward for more.
