"
For the longest time, I was part of an elite of collectors that had that figure. Now, everybody has a chance to get it and that makes me sad..." Those are the words of Mike, a collector from Missouri, who has been wronged too many times by toy brands, after they decided to re-issue/re-release action figures that he had already bought during the first release...
"
I'm not afraid to say that it's really unfair." said Mike to
ToyFarce, during our sit down interview. "
When the figure first came out, I bought it immediately, because I knew I wanted it back then to complete my collection. Its value went up soon after, which led a lot of other collectors to suddenly want that figure, but only because the value went up, and it was considered rare. They didn't want it when it first came out, not like me! And now, the brands are doing another release, so those collectors can get that figure... Why do they hate me so much?"
ToyFarce explained to Michael that it doesn't have to be a bad thing, as there are collectors that started collecting that line only
after it came out, or missed out on it the first time and couldn't afford the
secondary market prices, so it gives them a chance to have a complete collection as well. The more the merrier, right? Plus the value did not always necessarily go down after a re-issue:
"
I do not agree with that. Only true, passionate collectors like me should have that figure. The value of the figure *in my eyes* will definitely go down."
