It's
Wednesday, and you know what that means:
ToyFarce review!
This week, we're having a look at the
Spawn 30th Anniversary Spawn and Todd McFarlane two-pack by
McFarlane Toys (
duh!). It's a fun set for the fans, celebrating the
30th anniversary of
Todd McFarlane's character
Spawn, represented here in his '
first sketch' version. Oh yeah, there's an action figure of
Todd McFarlane too! Isn't that awesome?
To celebrate the
30th anniversary of Spawn,
McFarlane Toys released a two-pack of the first version of
Spawn with
Todd McFarlane, its creator. The set even comes with a
clamshell packaging, the same that was used with the first few waves of Spawn figures, which was a major pain in the butt to open.
Yay!
The first sketch version of
Spawn comes with
2 extra hands and
2 necroplasm effects, while
Todd McFarlane comes with
3 pairs of hands, a
notepad with the sketch, a (
WWE looking)
microphone and the most important accessory of all:
bare feet. Todd had said in several interviews that this is basically an
easter egg, since he is always walking without shoes at the office, and they added it to his figure. More power to him.
"Hi guys! Todd McFarlane here!"
"When I was 16 years old, I did the first drawing of Spawn."
The
Spawn figure is pretty decent, and will look great on a shelf next to modern versions of
Spawn.
Todd's figure is definitely better than the previous versions (
Todd the Bum from the Spawn movie mini-playset and
Todd the Artist from the McFarlane Toys fan club). This figure is articulated and can be posed, and has bare feet.
Did we mention it has bare feet?
"I created all these characters."
"I co-created that guy too! Look, here's my old pal Stan!"
Gotta give the people what they want...

Happy 30th Anniversary, Spawn!
