In what can only be described as a moment of
sheer optimism,
Mezco Toyz recently assured collectors that their highly anticipated
One:12 Collective Beetlejuice figure will *
absolutely* hit shelves in a shorter time than it took for the sequel to come out.
Yes, you read that correctly! The sequel,
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, comes out this week,
36 years after the original movie.
ToyFarce investigated...
A
Mezco spokesperson told
ToyFarce that the figure will be released "
in a timely fashion" — For those familiar with
Mezco’s legendary ability to stretch the definition of "
soon", the promise was met with cautious excitement. After all, we've seen
Mezco figures enter what collectors affectionately call the "
Preorder Phantom Zone", a mysterious place where figures are spoken of, pre-ordered and paid for, even admired on display at conventions, but rarely, if ever, make their way into the hands of the living.
However,
Mezco’s bold statement comes with a twist. "
We understand collectors are eager for the Beetlejuice figure", the spokesperson said. "
But we want to assure you, it won’t take nearly as long as Tim Burton took to make the movie sequel. We expect the figure's release to fall somewhere between 'next Halloween' and 'before the 30th anniversary of Beetlejuice 2's Blu-ray release'."
Mezco teased the figure’s special features, which will include multiple facial expressions, as well as an
accessory list so long it might just take the same amount of time to unpack as it did to get the movie through development hell. Many fans have already started placing bets on which will come first: the
Beetlejuice One:12 Collective figure, or
Michael Keaton being digitally de-aged for a *
third* installment...
